Since we made the decision to re-establish our home farm and market garden plots this year our spring and summer has been a very busy time for us. We’ve put a lot of energy into coaxing life back into old beds and greenhouses, and opening up new ones. Setting up washing and packing areas, and all the other details that go along with making sure our small market garden can run successfully with the goals we have in mind was also a priority for us.
So far we are very happy with the results and have been pleased to see many of our regular farmers market customers back at our booth this spring. All the encouragement and excitement we have heard from them about the food we are growing has been inspiring for us.
Our family roots here in Kelowna started with small scale farming and we are always so amazed by the amount of beautiful produce we are able to harvest off such a small piece of land. Even though we carry on our family farming tradition we are always finding new ways to do things by improving techniques and methods and trying out new crops to grow every year. We look forward to what we can do here at home over the next few years.
